Judicial Support for Women: Kate’s Place

Kate’s Place provides supervised housing for up to 11 women undergoing addictions treatment mandated by the Regina Drug Treatment Court (RDTC). This program helps women who might otherwise face custodial sentences.

Key Highlights:

  • Program Origin: Launched in 2012 as a two-year test project with federal funding.
  • Impact: Increased RDTC participation by nearly 40%. Four women have given birth to healthy, drug-free babies while in the program.
  • RDTC: A therapeutic court addressing drug addiction as a root cause of criminal behavior, recognized as one of Canada’s most successful drug treatment courts.

Judicial Support for Men: Community Residential Facility (CRF)

The CRF program at The Salvation Army Waterston Centre supports adult males in reintegrating into the community. Located downtown, it offers 9 private rooms with communal washrooms and lounges, close to essential services like bus stops, the library, Regina Parole Office, medical clinics, and pharmacies.

Services Provided:

  • 24-Hour Supervision: Ensuring safety and support at all times.
  • Meals: Three meals a day.
  • Laundry: Free laundry facilities.
  • Spiritual Care: Access to spiritual care services.
  • Medication: Administration and monitoring.
  • YMCA Passes: Access to YMCA facilities.
  • Clothing Vouchers: Assistance with clothing needs.
  • In-House Support: Various support services available on-site.
  • Transportation: Assistance with transportation needs.
  • Accessibility: Facilities accessible for people with disabilities.

The CRF Coordinator provides personalized case management, helping residents work towards their individual goals and ensuring they have the resources needed for successful reintegration.
