Spiritual Care

Spiritual Care at Waterston Centre

At Waterston Centre, we understand that the men seeking shelter often face challenging experiences and need someone to listen to their hurts and frustrations. Our Chaplain (Spiritual Care Coordinator) plays a crucial role in providing compassionate support and spiritual care.

Services Provided by the Chaplain:

  • Weekday Morning Devotions: From Tuesday to Thursday, the Chaplain reads the Bible and offers prayers during breakfast, attended by 70 to 80 residents. This devotional time is well-received by both residents and staff.
  • Staff Devotions: Every Wednesday morning, the Chaplain conducts devotions for the staff, announced publicly.
  • Bible, Coffee, and Donuts (B, C, and D): Once a week, Waterston House residents are invited to enjoy coffee and donuts while watching a short video on spiritual life, followed by a discussion.
  • Popcorn and Singing: Every Tuesday afternoon, residents of the Supportive Residential Program (SRP) enjoy popcorn and beverages while singing hymns and contemporary songs.
  • Birthday Cards: The Chaplain ensures that every resident and staff member receives a birthday card.
  • Visibility and Availability: The Chaplain is always visible at Waterston Centre, ensuring that residents and staff know they are available for support.
  • Church Attendance: Residents are encouraged to attend a church of their choice.
  • Provision of Essentials: The Chaplain may provide clothing, toiletries, and other necessities as needed.
  • Christmas Fundraising: The Chaplain leads fundraising efforts and supplies for Waterston Ministries during the Christmas season.

Our Chaplain’s presence and services are integral to the supportive and caring environment at Waterston Centre, helping residents navigate their challenges with compassion and spiritual guidance.
